The role of the Purchasing Agent at Midland Garage Door is a fully in-office position. We are looking for a dedicated professional to work on-site at our West Fargo office, where you will be closely integrated with our team.
If you have a background in purchasing (preferred in building supplies, construction, home goods) we have the role for you! Midland Garage Door is looking to grow our purchasing team at our West Fargo location.
Summary:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for supporting the procurement process by sourcing and purchasing the materials, equipment, and services necessary for production. This position ensures that Midland Garage Door always acquires the best materials and services at the most competitive prices, while maintaining strong vendor relationships and adhering to company standards.
Essential Duties:
- Represent Midland professionally while building relationships and negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers.
- Assist in the purchasing process by identifying suppliers and sourcing materials needed for production, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Research and interview potential suppliers to evaluate product availability, pricing, quality, and terms of sales to align with Midland’s needs.
- Collaborate with purchasing supervisor to ensure that the best materials or services are sourced from the most reliable vendors at competitive prices.
- Confirm receipt, ensure price accuracy, and guarantee prompt payment for all items and services that Midland receives. Follow established protocol by allocating payment to the correct month, attaching bill of ladings to invoices whenever possible, and filing appropriately.
- Professionally resolve vendor grievances and claims against suppliers while ensuring relationships are intact.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
- Ensure that Midland always receives the promised value from all vendors or that it is credited for any shortfalls.
- Support the purchasing supervisor in analyzing market trends, delivery systems, and material availability to plan for current and future procurement needs.
- Collaborate with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for products and acceptable substitutions.
- Assist in coordinating the logistics of product and material transportation to ensure on-time delivery.
- Support the development of purchasing strategies that align with organizational goals and ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensure that all vendor incentives benefit Midland Garage Door and not individual employees, promoting ethical business practices.

High School or GED required, and 2+ years of experience in a similar field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties as listed above.
